How’s it going everybody, this is Andrew Gazdecki, the CEO at Bizness Apps and today I’m going to go over really what is a progressive web app? So, there are native apps, there are progressive web apps and then there’s mobile website, so what’s the difference? A progressive web app really combines the best of both worlds. So you get native app functionality that performs in the web browser. And so you might be asking how is this possible?

Well, it’s through something called service worker. And service worker is a component that allows you to run JavaScript in a mobile phone’s browser’s background so we can do things like push notifications, have a prompt that lets customers add to the home screen, you can save data to be view able offline when you don’t have a cellular connection and best of all it’s friction-less. So it’s really combining the best of both worlds and essentially it’s an app that lives in the cloud and so, if you want to, lets say, utilize a loyalty program or order food, instead of downloading a native app, we’re able to just click a button and you’ll have access to all of the useful functionality and app-like experiences but all within your mobile phone’s browser.

And the companies that are really pushing this new technology is Google, Mozilla and also Apple, coming soon.
